About Us:

I invented Elty because I hated the bulge of a belt-buckle under my shirts and the pressure of buckle when I sat but I also disliked sagging, sloppy-looking jeans. I soon found lots of people wanted belts without buckles for the same, and many other, reasons. They liked riding skateboards, horses, motorcycles, and bikes without the pinch of a buckle. They loved that Elty belt did not have to come off when they went through airport security, kept pants in place and was comfortable on long flights. Crouching under the sink to fix a pipe or sitting on the couch to watch a movie Elty belt stays comfortable and your jeans won’t need tugging-up when you get up!

I hear two comments over and over: “It works as well as a regular belt but you hardly know that it’s there!” And, “I love that I don’t need to unbuckle a belt when I go to the bathroom.” One friend, a CEO who wore it for fashion, asked for another for her Down syndrome teenager so he didn’t have to try to fumble with a buckle. Another friend wanted one for her mom who had arthritis. This is how Elty grew and what inspired me to make it into a business.

I love that so many diverse people wanted an Elty so they could be comfortable, breathe, and bend without constriction. It seemed a good place to start a conversation. At Elty, we try to spread that message in our marketing; a message that goes beyond tolerance for others to acceptance and appreciation of the uniqueness of each individual. Live Unbuckled means to live in comfort. Not just in comfortable pants but in a world where you can be yourself comfortably.
